How to get a bathroom door handle off. If your knob has a pinhole or small slot opening use a flathead screwdriver to push it inward. Using a philips head screwdriver turn counterclockwise to unscrew a knob with standard hex head screws. Apply a bit of pressure to the paper clip to trigger a release button inside the hardware. Take out the screws then carefully pry off the plate with a flat head screwdriver.
Unscrew your door knob begin by holding the door knob securely in place. Straighten a large wire paper clip out and insert one end into the hole until you feel the spring loaded retaining pin. Pull the doorknob over the retaining pin and off the door. With the plate removed you can now pull the latch mechanism through the side of the door.
Many door knobs have trim plates that cover the screws so removing them can be a bit tricky if you ve never done it before. Once triggered the lever or lock trim can be removed from the door. Straighten a paper clip and insert it into the hole. Pull the outer doorknob while pressing the retaining pin with the paper clip.
